The Monday After
It’s Monday after the Super Bowl. What do we have to look forward to?
Kansas at Baylor
Tonight, the Baylor Bears play host to the Kansas Jayhawks. Unlike most of the previous match-ups between the two teams, Baylor is a 1.5-point favorite. The Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas may be too much for the young Jayhawks to handle.
The game is worth watching. Baylor, losing its last three games, must win to stay in contention for the Big 12 regular season championship. Kansas on the other hand is well on its way to winning a fifth straight conference championship with a team that lost most of its scoring from last year. A win tonight would give Kansas breathing room heading into its toughest stretch of the season.
The key match-ups…
Sherron Collins vs. Curtis Jerrells
The two point guards are both averaging more than 16 points per game. Although Collins has led his team to a mid-season top-25 ranking, national pundits do not see him as a top-5 point guard. Tonight will be another opportunity for Collins to prove himself against Jerrells, the second best point guard in the league.
Slight Edge: Sherron Collins
Tyshawn Taylor vs. Tweety Carter
The match-up could be close if Taylor plays one of his better games. Taylor has not come close to matching his performance versus Kansas State in the Big 12 opener. Taylor’s suspect defense could cause problems against the quick guard Tweety Carter.
Moderate Edge: Tweety Carter
LaceDarius Dunn vs. Mario Little
Many believe LaceDarius Dunn to be the best 6th man in the Big 12. Mario Little, if fully healthy, may be enough of a match-up problem for Baylor to offset Dunn’s scoring advantage.
Last year the Jayhawks managed to score 100 against the Bears without a three-point basket. Morningstar, Reed and Collins with the exception of Saturday’s game, are shooting well from behind the arc. The reckless play and poor defense of Baylor’s guards will be the difference in the game against the championship-tested leader of the Jayhawks. Look for Sherron to have a rebound after a poor shooting performance against Colorado. Prediction: Kansas by 8
24 (8 p.m. central on FOX)
Controversial politics have been at the center of the action during the first five hours of 24. Torture, blackmailing and government corruption are at the center of a long list of storylines. Jack Bauer, after saving the world more times than Jack Ryan, Superman and James Bond combined, is the subject of controversy.
Bauer, as well as guilt laden FBI agents, is grappling with the question of how many American lives at stake make it necessary to torture terrorists for information. It’s an easy answer, one.
Torture is not the only issue. The dilemma of choosing foreign relief in the form of a military invasion is weighed versus the lives of tens of thousands of Americans.

What we have learned….
1. Violent shots to the crotch with a snow globe may sell more Doritos.
2. The only car good enough for Jason Statham is an Audi sedan.
3. Danica Patrick is hot. What commercial was she in the shower for, again?
4. After every new Bud Light commercial, the beer seems less drinkable.
5. The best promotional spots of the day were movie trailers. What could be more exciting than another big budget popcorn movie from Michael Bay?
